Today I have a lovely Christmas Collection to show you from fellow Aussie Indie maker, Holly Denton. Holly's polish line is cleverly named Hollish and she has come up with some gorgeous and inventive Christmas inspired polishes that make up her 'Deck the Nails' Collection.
Hollish is 5-free, hand-mixed, and made in Adelaide, South Australia. All Hollish products are tested for a minimum of six weeks before being sold to ensure all glitters and pigments remain stable in the lacquer base.
The Deck the Nails Collection consists of two glitter toppers, a jelly, and a crelly.
The first one I'd like to show you today is 'Frosty Melted!', a pearly white crelly with iridescent hex, hot orange bars, large black dots, and small black hex. I love the concept of this polish! It's supposed to represent a melted snowman, with the large black circles for eyes, orange bars for the nose and small black hex for the buttons. I love the inclusion of the iridescent hex because it reminds me of snow glistening in the sun.
For my swatches, I used one coat over a white base.
Application was good. Some slight fishing was required for the black dots but as always, with large glitter, that's to be expected.
Next is 'O Christmas Tree', a pine green jelly filled with holo gold dust, and small multi coloured hex. This is Holly's version of the 'Christmas Tree in a bottle' concept that you will see a few Indie brands release this season.
You could build this up on its own if you like the jelly look (or have short nails) but I chose to layer it over a dark green, Australis 'Here Today Gone Tomorrow'. It also dries super glossy so I didn't even use a topcoat! It has a great consistency, applied evenly and was self levelling.
My swatches show two coats over dark green with no topcoat.
The next one is a glitter topper! This one is called 'Star of Bethlehem', it's filled with gold, white and iridescent hex and makes for a pretty versatile glitter. You could use this one all year because it's not super Christmas-sy. But, because this is part of a Christmas collection, I used it over a deep berry (although it came out really red in the photos).
My swatches show one dabbed coat over Essence 'Berry Me Home' with topcoat.
Last is 'Blue Christmas', a glitter topper that is a similar concept to 'Star of Bethlehem' but with blue glitter and hex instead of squares. It is filled with hex in dark blue, silver, and iridescent glitter. This one is applies the glitter slightly more sparser than 'Star of Bethlehem' so you can build it up or even do a gradient with it.
My swatches show one coat over NYC 'Blue Bird', with the exception of the ring finger which shows 3 coats.
The Hollish Deck the Nails Christmas collection is available soon from the Hollish etsy store. Hollish polish is priced at $10.50 for a big 15ml bottle. Hollish also has a Facebook page where you can go to get updates about releases!
